5 Social Media Strategies to Attract Top Talent

Use these five tips master social recruiting:

  1. Encourage Your Team to Be Brand Advocates: There’s no better way to convince people that your company is a great place to work than hearing it straight from your employees. Empower your staff to get on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts and share positive messages about their work and why they enjoy being part of your organization.
  2. Share Behind-the-Scenes Stories: Give people a glimpse of what it’s like to work for you by posting photos of your office space, sharing pictures of fun staff outings and offering insights on the type of work you do. This is a great way to engage potential candidates and make them want to join your team.
  3. Find Out Where Top Talent Congregates: Do a little research to find out which social networks your ideal candidate base are using the most. There’s no need to burn through your resources trying to be everywhere, if top talent is only flocking to one or two social platforms.
  4. Post Job Opportunities on Social Media: In the past, you were confined to posting open positions on your HR site and job boards, but this is no longer the case. Maximize your reach by sharing links to open positions on your social media accounts. According to Joe Budzienski, vice president of product and technology at Monster.com, more than 60,000 jobs are tweeted each day, with a total of 40% of companies using Twitter to find talent.
  5. Interact with Influencers: Dig deep to find out who top influencers are in the engineering community and connect with them on social media. Follow them, comment on their posts and work to build a relationship, so they can help you connect with the right people. Leading influencers often have thousands or even millions of followers, so if they like, share or repost your content it will reach a significant portion of your target market.
