Fall has officially arrived and the lazy days of summer are just a memory. Now it’s time to really push forward to ensure your company meets its year-end goals. Of course, if you want to end 2016 on a high note, you need your talented team to give 100% effort throughout the season.

Happy, engaged employees are much more productive, because they value their jobs and truly want to help the company succeed. Use these four tips to keep morale high at your company this fall, so people remain motivated.

Recognize Great Work

Your employees are incredibly talented. These people never cease to amaze you with their exceptional work ethic and outstanding performance, but make sure you’re not just internalizing these thoughts. When a staffer submits really great work, acknowledge their efforts. Whether you offer a simple and sincere thank you or call them out in front of the group is up to you, but don’t let it slide. Even the most passionate, loyal workers become discouraged when they feel invincible.

Offer Learning Opportunities

Highly skilled employees continue to advance because they enjoy learning. Keep your team engaged this fall by allocating some of your budget to training opportunities. This can span from allowing each person to attend an out of state conference to bringing a trainer into your office to teach everyone a highly-coveted new skill. Figure out what your budget can handle and find a way to help your team learn and grow their skillset during the next few months.

Hire From Within

Working for a boss who won’t champion for you and doesn’t want to help you succeed is beyond discouraging. There’s nothing worse than being passed up for an internal opportunity you’re more than qualified for by an external candidate. If you’re planning to do some hiring, carefully assess your current staff before looking elsewhere. The perfect candidate might already be on your roster, and if you pass them up, you’ll be filling more positions in no time at all.

Create a Better Work-Life Balance

There’s a fine line between working hard and being overworked, so if you see your employees crossing into the latter category this fall, it’s time to take action. You need to your team to put forth 100% effort this season, but they’re only human and they need nights and weekends to relax and enjoy life with family and friends. Consider taking on temporary staffers to help with the overflow if your employees can’t possibly handle their workload in 40 hours per week.
